Director’s Statement
Endless Shifts began as an idea from Tyler Downey, President of SEIU Healthcare, who recognized the extraordinary dedication of healthcare workers who often go unseen and unheard. Tyler wanted a story that honored their decades of service while showing the human cost of their commitment. I was invited to direct the project because of my experience in documentary storytelling and my belief that visual narratives can give voice to those who are too often overlooked. Together, we shared a vision: to highlight not only the labor and sacrifice of these workers but also their resilience, their humor, and their unwavering commitment to the people they care for.
As the director, my goal was to approach the subject with empathy, patience, and respect, creating intimate portraits that reveal the everyday realities of life on the frontlines. From the quiet moments of reflection during a night shift to the bonds formed between coworkers over decades, we sought to show the depth, dedication, and humanity that define these essential workers.
Through candid interviews, observational footage, and visual storytelling, Endless Shifts becomes more than a documentary; it is a tribute to the human spirit, a call to recognize and value those who sustain our communities, and a reminder that care is a shared responsibility. This project reflects both Tyler’s leadership and my own commitment to telling stories that matter, with honesty, clarity, and heart.
